Scripture:

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Observation:

What is Advent? So I confess, I had no idea what the word advent meant up until now. I knew it had something to do with Jesus but didn’t know what. The meaning of Advent is, the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event. We as Christians celebrate the arrival of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Christmas.

“Christmas became a holiday that I struggled with celebrating when I gave my life back to Jesus. I struggled with the things I felt were in competition with our Lord’s birthday. The lights, the trees, the music and especially the chubby dude with the beard that brings gifts. “Bah Humbug

I have since been delivered knowing there is balance, you can thank my awesome wife Carrie for that.

Christmas is a holiday that we can easily loose focus on what that day is set apart for. You see without Christmas there is no Easter and without death there is no life. Our heavenly Father sent his beautiful without spot or blemish gift to us. He knew this gift would be wounded, bruised, and punished in 33 years. He knew that many people would ask for the receipt because they didn’t want the gift. Our Heavenly Father gave His greatest gift in His son, so we could give Him our greatest gift our lives.

Have you ever accepted the free gift of Salvation? Do you have a friend or love one who needs to hear about this gift? This gift was meant for everyone. Will you give this gift to someone this holiday season?

Prayer:

Lord help us to remember what Christmas is all about. You sending your son Jesus to seek and save the lost. God, we know without Christmas there is no Easter. Lord may the heart of our friends and love ones who have not accepted this free gift, be soften to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
