412 School of leadership

empowering leaders

What Is 412?

We are excited about Empowering Leaders through our 412 School of Leadership!

School of Leadership will serve as an intense discipleship tool for Sioux Falls First with institute level courses that both challenge and equip the students.  This is not a set of classes for new believers, but for firm believers looking to engage their world with deeper knowledge and practical ministry steps.  There will be at least 6 different teachers over the course of the first track.

If you have questions, you can contact Pastor Anna Beard at [email protected]

412 FAQ

WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH WITH THE SCHOOL?

We want our school of leadership to serve as an intense discipleship tool for Sioux Falls First with institute level courses that both challenges and equips the students.

IS THERE ANY VALUE TO THE CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE INSTEAD OF DOING THE COURSES ON MY OWN?

We believe the value in our classes is found both in our facilitators and students as we strive to achieve the missional DNA of Sioux Falls First: Leading Life Change.

I FEEL LIKE I NEED TO DO AND LEARN MORE, BUT DO ALL STUDENTS REALLY NEED HERMENEUTICS?

Our desire is that the theory and practical ministry will blend so that our students are able to live a life of everyday ministry wherever they might be. We will provide tools to engage both intellectually and practically in our culture.

WHAT LEVEL OF DISCIPLESHIP IS THIS MEANT TO COVER?

This is not a level 1 for new believers, but a set of classes for firm believers looking to engage their world with deeper knowledge and practical ministry steps.

WHAT ARE STUDENT EXPECTATIONS? DO I REALLY NEED TO COME TO ALL THE CLASSES?

We will ask that students not miss class unless it is an emergency, you are on a mission’s trip, serving in a ministry, or for a preapproved reason. We do this to stress the importance of commitment to the class and to each other. This is relational learning as much as personal growth. You are not committing to a teacher, but a process that God will use to help shape your character. We will also require you to be serving in a ministry at Sioux Falls First, and that you find a mentor, and become a mentor.

WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS?

We have done our best to offer a wide range of instructors with knowledge and wisdom to help equip you for the work of the Ministry. They are Pastor Ron Traub, Pastor Dianne Beard, Pastor Lyndle DeCamp, Missionary Mike Waldner, Evangelist Kit Murray, and (soon to be Phd.) Barb Elkjer.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

There are 9 courses total. Each course costs $100 each. There is also a 1 time $30 new student fee for Global University Berean School of the Bible due with the application.

WHAT ARE THE OVERRIDING PRINCIPLES?

  1. Discipleship happens in mentorship.
  2. Discipleship involves everyone on every level.
  3. Students must be involved in a ministry so that training can be put into action.
  4. A true discipleship program is about preparing spiritual warriors, not church entertainers.

If these principles are not something you believe in, then this might not be the avenue of discipleship for you. We will ask a lot of the students, but that is because we believe this program can help launch leaders that God can use to change their world!
